The dependable, powerful RAM 1500 has long been the full-size pickup truck that drivers prefer. Its combination of performance and style make it a leading contender, and it grows more impressive in 2025 with a few updates. In 2025, the RAM 1500 continues to be available in eight trim levels, including the Tradesman and the Big Horn, which is also known as the RAM 1500 Lone Star. As the first and second trims available, many of our customers inquire about their differences.
The 2025 RAM 1500 Tradesman is powered by a 3.6-liter, V6 engine with mild-hybrid components. With 305 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque, this system features an eight-speed automatic transmission as well as rear-wheel drive. The Big Horn/Lone Star has comparable engineering and performance capabilities. Both models are also available with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, which creates 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel drive is optional for both models.
Across the exterior, the 2025 RAM 1500 Tradesman and Big Horn/Lone Star trims are similar. Both models are available with your choice of a crew cab or a quad cab. Regardless of the cab configuration selected, the RAM 1500 has a strong design with a muscular hood and a tall front end. Body molding lines the entire lower perimeter of the vehicle for added functionality. Above the molded front bumper, the wide grille is accented with a thick surround. The LED headlights are almost rectangular and shoot off from the grille horizontally. The RAM 1500 Tradesman comes with 18-inch steel wheels while the RAM 1500 Big Horn/Lone Star models have 18-inch alloy wheels. The 1500 Big Horn/Lone Star also features chrome accents and body-colored fender flares.
The primary difference between the Tradesman and the Big Horn/Lone Star are the features. The Tradesman has vinyl upholstery while the Big Horn/Lone Star comes with cloth seats. In addition, the Big Horn/Lone Star is available with several optional packages that are not offered with the Tradesman. Both trim levels have standard features like parking sensors, forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assistance, an 8.4-inch touch display screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot detection system with a rear cross-traffic alert, and a six-speaker sound system.
